The India Cements Limited is the largest producer of cement in Southern India with a market share of around 17% and a total production capacity of about 14 million tonnes of cement per annum. The group has 7 composite cement plants, and has two Cement Grinding Units. Currently the company is setting up a Greenfield plant in Rajasthan with a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes.

The Company markets its cement in three premium brands, namely “SANKAR CEMENT”, “COROMANDEL CEMENT”, and “RAASI CEMENT” and markets its cement mainly in Tamilnadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

The company was founded by Shri. S.N.N. Sankaralinga Iyer and Shri T.S. Naranaswami in the year 1946. Presently the Company is managed by Shri.N.Srinivasan, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director. The company is a professionally managed company and the overall management of the affairs of the company is the ultimate responsibility of the Board, which comprises eminent personalities.

The India Cements group also has a presence in Software, Sugar, Power, Trading, Shipping and Finance.

The Company’s annual turnover for the year 2009-10 is more than Rs.4200 crores.
